Overview

Since its inception, Trinity Christian School has emphasized academic rigor, while teaching from a biblical worldview. TCS provides engaging and creative learning, combined with a structured and caring environment. As a learning community, we encourage each student’s intellectual, spiritual, social, physical, and emotional growth by applying biblical truth in the context of real life.

Curriculum

Academics

TCS abides by all graduation requirements established by the State of North Carolina and admission requirements established by the University System of North Carolina.

Kindergarten

Kindergarten is an exciting time of exploration and growth where your child’s motor coordination increases, as well as his or her sense of independence, self-reliance, and self-confidence. As the year progresses, kindergarteners are expected to complete assignments with less outside help, take on more responsibilities, and follow rules more accurately.

Elementary Academics

The Lord has notably blessed the elementary school with a most experienced and exceptionally talented faculty. Our teachers work diligently to prepare the next generation through character building and a rich array of educational experiences. Children develop higher level thinking skills through a balanced academic curriculum and enrichment activities. These enrichment activities include physical education, music, art, field trips, chapel speakers, and SMART Board availability to meet the needs of the 21st century learner. Your child will flourish in an environment where the home, school, and church work together to provide a biblical education.

Middle School Curriculum

Middle School uses a combination of ABeka, Bob Jones University Press, Prentice-Hall, Scott Foresman, and other texts. Middle School Bible curriculum is currently an assortment of Bob Jones University Press, Abeka, Summit Ministries, ACSI, and current authors such as James Dobson and Henry Blackaby.

High School Curriculum

Spiritual and academic growth continue in high school through a program which emphasizes self-discipline, obedience, respect for authority, love of God and country, love for fellow man, honesty and dependability. The environment is still one of structure and discipline, but includes extracurricular opportunities for students to express opinions and grow in independence. The primary curriculums used are ABeka and Bob Jones University Press. Both are Christ-centered.

Technology Curriculum

The Trajectory curriculum is comprised of four comprehensive units per year designed by technology coordinators with years of practical experience teaching K-6 computer literacy. Each unit is designed to encourage teachers to integrate current classroom studies as the academic focus. The curriculum spirals so students review and reinforce skills as they learn new ones from kindergarten through 8th grade.

Trajectory is based on a technology scope and sequence that identifies over 350 learning objectives in 10 different technology areas including word processing, spreadsheets, desktop publishing, graphic design, multimedia, and internet use. These literacy objectives establish the framework for a technology program that ensures continuity as students move from grade to grade. This curriculum is constantly maintained to ensure the integration of new technology. By the time students are in the 8th grade, they are confident in applying the basics of the Microsoft Office Suite.

Kindergarten:
Trajectory provides a curriculum that teaches computer skills to Kindergarten students utilizing Microsoft Word & KidPix Deluxe 4 software.

Grades 1-8:
Trajectory provides a curriculum that teaches computer skills to 1st through 8th grades utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite while integrating subject matter from the classroom or real-life situations into the computer projects. Although the projects become more complex each year, the technology objectives are repetitious, allowing students to build on their knowledge.

Discipleship

Bible is the major course of study in every grade at TCS and must be passed every year. We believe that basic to all knowledge and good character is the knowledge of God through Jesus Christ. We hold the Bible as our principal textbook, and we interpret other subjects in the light of the Scripture. Therefore, Bible study and Bible memory work are fundamental requirements of all students at Trinity Christian School.

Career & College Promise

TCS is excited to offer our students the opportunity to participate in Career and College Promise through Pitt Community College. CCP is a high school dual enrollment program that provides educational opportunities for high school students in NC. TCS extends this opportunity to eligible juniors and seniors. Participating students will be able to earn college credit while completing their high school degree by enrolling in online classes, as well as attending classes at PCC.

Guidance

It is our goal at Trinity Christian School to partner with students, parents and teachers to prayerfully identify the needs, interests, aptitudes, and goals of each student and to provide thoughtful academic and college/career planning throughout four years of high school.
